- (i)This Manual shall be the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Queensland) under and within the meaning of the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 (including the Regulations from time to time in force thereunder).
- (ii)The design of, and the methods, standards and procedures in relation to every sign, signal, marking, light or device, which is contained in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Queensland) now in force, but which is not contained in this Manual, are approved for the purposes of the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act (including the Regulations from time to time in force thereunder). Every sign, signal, marking, light or device whether it is installed on a road before, on or after the publication date of the relevant Part of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Queensland) shall be an Official Traffic Sign under and within the meaning of the said Act until it is removed and discontinued or until, as the case may be, it is removed and replaced by an Official Traffic Sign the design of which and the methods, standards and procedures in relation to which are contained in this Manual or as approved in writing.
- (iii)The provisions of sub-clause (ii) of this Clause shall continue in force notwithstanding any amendments made from time to time to this Manual unless in respect of any such sign, signal, marking, light or device it is expressly provided to the contrary in any such amendment.
- (i)The designs, methods, standards and procedures relating to the installation of traffic control devices (Official Traffic Signs) are contained in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Queensland). These devices are installed by the Chief Executive, Department of Transport and Main Roads and local governments for the purpose of regulating, warning or guiding traffic on the road system in this state.
- (ii)Existing stocks of signs in conformity with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Queensland) at its time of publication will first be exhausted before any new signs are installed to conform with subsequent publications. Such signs, together with existing installed signs shall continue to be Official Traffic Signs until replaced.
- (iii)The specifications for the devices contained in this Manual are based upon Australian Standard AS1742 Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
- (iv)The provisions of this Clause 2 are for general information only and do not limit or otherwise affect the provisions of Clause 1.
