2Introduction#

This document is relevant to cones and bollards, defined by Part 3 of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices as the following:

• Clause 4.11.1(a) – Traffic cones shall comprise cones of fluorescent orange material that is resilient to impact, and
• Clause 4.11.1(b) – Temporary bollards shall comprise a vertical parallel sided or tapered tube of fluorescent orange or red material that is resilient to impact.

Cones and bollards nominated on the department's accepted products list are accepted for temporary use in both short and long-term roadworks sites only.

This document specifies conditions in relation to:

• requirements for submitting new cones and bollards products for acceptance as compliant with standards (or resubmitting those previously accepted and lapsed)
• requirements for extending currently accepted cones and bollards products prior to the 3-year acceptance period concluding, and
• submission requirements, standards and required inclusions.
