7Electrical requirements#

7.1Portable signs#

Portable signs shall be solar powered in accordance with the requirements of MRTS263 Standalone Solar (PV) Power Systems and the relevant requirements of AS 4852.2. Each sign shall also have the facility to be mains powered so the batteries can be charged before being deployed to site or while at site. This shall include a mains battery charger and an IP65-rated locking connector to enable the external power supply to be easily connected and disconnected from the sign. The relevant electrical requirements defined in Clause 10 of MRTS201 General Equipment Requirements apply.

7.2Fixed signs#

Fixed signs shall be mains powered, with an IP65-rated locking connector to enable the external power supply to be easily connected and disconnected from the sign, and with surge protection and battery power supply in accordance with the requirements of Clause 10 of MRTS201 General Equipment Requirements and the relevant requirements of AS 4852.1. Where specified, also provide lightning protection compliant with AS 1768.
